Alex M. Adamson, Messengers-At-Arms and Sheriff Officers, was established in it's present form in 1961, on the purchase of an existing business by David W.M. Hunter, operating as the only Sheriff Officer in the firm from a base in Falkirk.
From these beginnings, the firm of Alex M. Adamson developed and expanded, and while retaining a head office base in Falkirk, now operates branch offices in Glenrothes, Livingston and also Stirling, where they formerly traded as T. Ramsay Hynd & Son.
Ten Sheriff Officers work in the firm variously holding commissions for the Sheriffdoms of Tayside, Central and Fife, Lothian and Borders, South Strathclyde, Dumfries and Galloway, Glasgow and Strathkelvin and North Strathclyde.
Five of the Officers are also commissioned as Messengers-At-Arms with authority throughout Scotland.
On 1 April 1996, Jean P.S. Hunter, Stuart P. Hunter and Graeme T. MacDonald were assumed as partners in the business ensuring continuation of the company. As wife, son and nephew of the former sole proprietor David Hunter the firm maintains the benefits of a family business.
David W.M. Hunter and Jean P.S. Hunter retired on 31 March 1997.
The business has been carried on by Stuart Hunter and Graeme MacDonald.
